Sushi Koto in Fountain Valley: Solid Japanese Fare Slightly Modernized

My group and I quite randomly ran into Sushi Koto, an authentic little spot tucked in a massive strip mall found just off the freeway in Fountain Valley in Orange County. I secretly had high hopes because of its proximity to the venerable Shinsengumi where I had my very first Hakata Ramen. Ah, miss that milky broth and don't miss those yelling servers who welcome you with way too much energy and vigor when you walk into the tiny joint.

I thought I'd include a gratuitous extra close up image of the fish eggs as a nod to food porn. Look at those glistening fish eggs! The sashimi salad was perfect for a light, protein-packed meal that was also visually compelling. It came with a mix of greens including radish sprouts that added some spiciness and different kinds of eggs that I gleefully popped in my mouth. Sashimi included regular tuna, salmon and albacore tuna, to name a few pieces.

Think I'll return next time I'm in the area. It was a solid choice for a quick and healthy working lunch.
