Classic Persian at Jino's Pars next to LAX: Of Lamb Shank, Charred Chicken and the Fluffiest Basmati Rice

Who knew there would be a Persian gem a stone's throw from LAX airport? I have to say, Jino's Pars wasn't the best Persian I've had but it was pretty solid. The chicken kebab was particularly good. The slow-cooked lamb shank was tender but not as fall-off-the-bone as the one in Shamshiri Grill, where the shank is buried under a mound of rice (usually enough for a family of five). I wish it would have been cooked for a bit longer.
We had the lamb shank with fava bean and dill rice, which was the perfect combination.
The chicken kebab was moist and tender -- nicely charred on the edges. The rice had sour cherries so every bite had a burst of sweetness thanks to the fruit. The dish came with the standard roasted tomato, onions and green bell peppers.
The lentil soup that came out as a starter was hearty and heart-warming. It tasted better with a dollop of the yogurt dip mixed with dill and diced cucumbers that gave the soup a refreshing layer.
The yogurt side went with everything. I scooped dollops of this beauty into every bite of the shank and rice.
All entrees come with a soup and salad so we got both for each entree. The salad we chose was cucumber, tomato and onion salad that was also a refreshing relish for the somewhat heavy protein of lamb shank and chicken.

This restaurant also has a full Italian menu that we haven't tried. I may return but given I don't live so far from Tehrangeles/Westwood, not sure I will venture out there just for this spot.
