I don't know when I'll be returning to Palmdale anytime soon but
Taqueria Las Delicias in a nondescript mall served a mean
al pastor taco. I can't say the same for the carnitas taco that was too dry and flavorless, however..
Aside from the meat being a bit fatty (I chew into a big lump of fat), the al pastor taco was everything a taco should be -- juicy from the meat, crunch from the onions and aromatic cilantro and a great blend of flavors and heat from the fiery salsa.
It never ceases to amaze and delight me to walk into the bare-bones joint like this one, only to find the most extensive salsa bar with everything your heart desires. I didn't waste any time in grabbing salsa verde, roasted green chile salsa, red salsa, roasted red chile salsa that was very thick and limes. It also had pickled jalapenos and carrots. When the food arrived, we also got a plate full of roasted jalapenos and onions.
I love me a good salsa bar and this one certainly did not disappoint. I wish the carnitas were better. My dining companion said the vegetable burrito was very good. Viva the good taco joints!
